The Maryland Express Lightning Girls Fastpitch Softball Organization is a year round, family-oriented fastpitch travel softball program for ages 9 and up. Maryland Express Lightning is based in Frederick County, Maryland within reasonable driving distance for players in the surrounding counties and south central Pennsylvania. Practices are held at Ballenger Creek Park and surrounding facilities and winter indoor practices and clinics are held at their indoor facility in Urbana, Maryland.

Maryland Express Lightning is a Frederick County based team that plays class A and class B level tourneys. Maryland Express Lightning is an affiliate of ASA/USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States. Maryland Express Lightning is a non-governmental and non-profit organization 501(c)(3). We are staffed by volunteers dedicated to the advancement of softball at all levels of play. Our funds go to the administration of activities and other related events that benefit our team membership.

MISSION:

We believe that our greatest contribution is in teaching young people the values of competition: to make a commitment, to work hard, to strive for excellence, to sacrifice to make the team better, and to be the best you can be as a person and as an athlete. We believe that our job is to develop the total person, and not just the athlete. Our players learn to respect the game of fastpitch softball and all who are involved in it.

We will provide a healthy, productive and structured environment for its players to learn and compete in the game of fastpitch softball; promote team chemistry and teach the importance of achieving success through teamwork; provide a unique, positive atmosphere for accomplished athletes to develop their skills while building confidence, self-esteem and mental toughness; stress the importance of academic excellence as it relates to competitive sports and to a successful future; develop highly competitive softball teams with players that exemplify the meaning of selflessness and teamwork.
